Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism launched Vital Signs (14 October 2009)

The Vital Signs programme was launched by Mr Martin Cullen T.D. Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism on October 14. The Minister was introduced by Pat Moylan, Chairman of the Arts Council /An Chomhairle Ealaíon. The launch took place at 6.30pm in NCAD Gallery and was preceded by a live performance entitled Mind - Matter by artist Dominic Thorpe from 4.30 - 6.30pm. The evening also included a performance by Sean Nós singer, John Tunney. John performed two new compositions from Sing Another Story, a project which based in Kilmaley Sheltered Housing and Daycare Centre, Co. Clare.

Vital Signs is curated by Michelle Browne and is the first national exhibition of its kind.  The exhibition features fourteen artists from around the country including: Dominic Thorpe, Helene Hugel, Marie Brett, Charlotte Donovan, Jennie Moran, Seamus McGuinness, Denis Roche, Danny McCarthy, Paul Maye, Cathy Henderson, Mark Roper, Ger Wolfe, Paul Gregg and John Tunney. The exhibition takes place from October 14 - 21 at the National College of Art and Design Gallery, Foley’s Pharmacy on Thomas Street, St. James’s Hospital, St Patrick’s University Hospital and Dr. Steevens’ Hospital.
